Iaan Waldeck is a contemporary artist whose practice integrates sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, and text with handmade traditional and industrial materials and objects. His practice explores memory and identity through philosophical inquiry and metaphysical synthesis,    where the poetic and enigmatic often recur. He is recognized for his relief wall assemblages and sculptural installations that merge material experimentation with conceptual investigation. Notable projects include Mokhukhu (1994), Prisoner’s Exhibit (1995), A casa Dos Carvalhos (2005), and De rode draad (2024). His work has been shown in Biennales and is represented internationally in museums and collections.
